When life feels heavy or your mind won’t switch off, the fastest way back to clarity is often through the body. Here are 7 simple grounding practices you can use anytime—no special tools required.

1) Name 5 things you can see

Let your eyes move slowly and name five objects. This signals safety to the nervous system.

2) Feel your feet

Press your feet into the floor for 10 seconds, then release. Repeat 3 times.

3) Lengthen your exhale

Inhale gently through the nose, then exhale a little longer than the inhale. Do 6 rounds.

4) Hand on heart, hand on belly

Place one hand on your chest and one on your belly. Feel the warmth and the movement of breath.

5) Orient to the room

Turn your head slowly and look around. Notice corners, colors, and light. Let your body register where you are.

6) Shake it out

Gently shake your hands, arms, and legs for 30–60 seconds. This can help discharge stress.

7) Ask a kinder question

Try: ‘What do I need right now to feel 5% more supported?’ Then choose one small action.

When to get support

If you’ve been feeling stuck for a while, it can help to have a steady space to unwind and reconnect. Sessions can support you in coming back to your body, your intuition, and your next steps.
